We will keep track of the demand for this cover and may reintroduce it in the future. Policies purchased before 30th June 2021 aren't affected and your cover will carry on until your policy expires.
Breakdown Cover FAQs
We don't differentiate our prices from our website to our call centre, you can purchase the policy online or over the phone and there won't be any changes on the prices offered to you.
Our customer service team can give you information on our breakdown cover levels or process your payment over the phone.
For as little as €36 a year you can take out Ireland Breakdown Assistance and call on our experienced technicians in the event of a breakdown 24 hours a day 7 days a week.
We pick up the cost of recovery and an hour of repair work at the roadside as standard (where possible), so you save on call out fees and vehicle recovery.
Our most comprehensive cover levels (Ireland and UK breakdown cover and European breakdown cover) also cover the costs of getting you and your passengers to your desired destination in Ireland, the UK or Europe (depending on the cover level you choose). This includes overnight accommodation, cost towards onward transport or a courtesy car. Costs are also covered for you to travel to collect the vehicle once it's fixed and a vehicle recovery service if you fill up with the wrong fuel or misplacing your keys.

We offer 4 levels of breakdown cover to suit your driving needs:
Ireland breakdown cover, Ireland breakdown cover plus, Ireland and UK breakdown cover and European breakdown cover.
For Ireland Breakdown Cover, Ireland Breakdown Cover Plus and Ireland and UK Breakdown Cover we cover passenger cars up to 15 years old, although some vehicle exclusions apply.
For European Breakdown Cover we cover passenger cars up 10 years old.
For Van Breakdown Cover we cover light commercial vehicles up to 10 years old, providing they do not exceed 3,500kg in weight (including load), 7 metres in length, 3.0 metres in height and 2.3 metres in width. (European breakdown cover is not available).
All vehicles must be privately registered in the Republic of Ireland and used for social, domestic, pleasure and commuting purposes only.
- Ireland Breakdown Cover and Ireland Breakdown Cover Plus only cover your vehicle in Ireland (including Northern Ireland).
- Ireland and UK Breakdown Cover provides assistance across the UK, as well as at home in Ireland.
- European Breakdown Cover (unavailable for vans/light commercial vehicles) provides breakdown assistance in Ireland and across the rest of Continental Europe.
If your vehicle breaks down when towing a caravan or trailer we will arrange for your caravan or trailer to be taken near to the repairer, providing it doesn’t exceed 3,500 kg in weight (including load), 7 metres in length, 3.0 metres in height or 2.3 metres in width. Any repairs to the caravan or trailer itself won’t be covered.
Motor homes are not covered.
Your policy start date will be shown on your e-mail confirmation.
Your breakdown cover ends 365 days after your policy start date.
We will send you a renewal notice at least 21 days prior to the expiration date shown on your confirmation email.
You can then choose to renew online, or call our customer service team on 1800 882560 or 00353 1 6373658 (for calls outside of Ireland) and press option 2 for customer service, lines are open 9am – 5pm Monday to Friday.
You must renew your policy no more than 1 day prior to your policy expiration date, after this date you will only be eligible to purchase a new breakdown policy with us.

If you feel the cover we offer no longer suits your needs, you can cancel within 14 days of the policy purchase date.
If you choose to cancel after this 14-day period, you will be entitled to a pro-rata refund providing no claims have been paid under the policy. You will be charged a €25 administration fee. If you wish to cancel and have made a claim under the policy, we are entitled to recover all costs for the service provided.
