If you take out an Annual travel insurance policy with us, then each adult (or a single parent) can travel independently. For insured children to be covered for independent travel, they must be travelling with an adult aged 18 or over and with the full knowledge and consent of their insured parent / guardian.

At Allianz, we understand that you’re heading on a family holiday to try new things and unlock a sense of adventure, which is why our travel insurance covers a number of sports and leisure activities as standard.

On dry land, you can try your hand at badminton in the hotel, take a cycling trip around the town or play golf at your local course. If you’d like to explore the ocean, you can snorkel under the waves, scuba dive to a depth of 30 metres (providing you hold a certificate of proficiency or you are diving with a qualified instructor), or go surfing. However, we do not provide cover for any professional sporting activity, any kind of racing except racing on foot, or any kind of manual work.

You can see a full list of the activities our policies automatically cover you for by checking your policy documents. Plus, we may be able to cover you for other activities that are not listed. To discuss your needs, please contact us 00353 1 619 3681 to learn more. Please note that there may be some activities we are unable to cover.

If you’re taking your family on a skiing holiday to somewhere like Chamonix or Tignes, then you’ll also need to purchase our Winter Sports and Ski add-on for your policy. This way, the whole family will be covered for a number of ski-related risks, such as delayed, lost, stolen or damaged ski equipment, piste closures, avalanche closures and unused ski pack costs.
Backpacking is a great way to see the world. With our Backpacker travel insurance, you can experience the beauty of Canada and still have cover as you travel elsewhere.
